Even in 2012, some of us have no idea how to begin making an online presence outside of social media. Before you can start building your brand new website or blog, you will need to buy a URL.
It is actually very simple to buy a URL. It is a speedy process and there are plenty of places online where you can register a domain.
I personally recommend Name.com as my accredited domain name registrar of choice. They have competitive pricing and outstanding customer service. Standard pricing for a .com or .net is $10.99 per year, which makes Name.com about 17% cheaper than the famed GoDaddy. Name.com also has a reputation for frequent promotions such as offering discounts on new registrations and FREE who.is privacy ($3 savings).
The first time I chose to buy a url with Name.com, it only cost me just seven bucks with who.is privacy for an entire year!
Buy a URL with a top-level domain.
Go to Name.com and simply type in the domain name of your choice into the search bar on the home page. When done, click the blue Search button on the right.
Name.com will bring up a list of search results with your chosen name and all possible top-level domains (TLD). Available TLDs will be indicated in green. Click the check box to the right of any of the results in the list to add it to your cart.
Although .com, .net and .org are the most popular top-level domains, you can choose from over sixty when you buy a URL from Name.com.
After you buy a URL, you will be able to log in to your account to configure settings for your domain or to purchase additional domains.
Whether your purpose is to buy a URL for your personal web/blog site or if you need a custom vanity URL to redirect visitors to a lead capture page or business presentation, you can do it all, for LESS with Name.com.
